Just start typing and carry on writing, even if you're not sure of where you're going. If it feels as if it's going nowhere, save it in another file and start typing again. The more you type, the more your ideas will flow and one of them will take you along with it.
As for the others that you saved because they were going nowhere, go back to them and see what you wrote. You may be surprised to find that with fresh eyes, one of the ideas suddenly leaps out at you and you know where to go with it!

For me personally, I find that my writing time is totally 'my time'. I am so absorbed that I virtually switch off from the world. I find it very calming as my mind is focused entirely on my characters and the story line. Everything else can wait!
There is also the absolute thrill of knowing that complete strangers are buying your book and reading it!(less)
